Chances are the only thing you know about women’s college basketball is that UConn?is really good, and besides that fact the sport is irrelevant in the world.
One might have to question ESPN’s sanity as a whole the way they are promoting the women’s tournament. I mean, front page? I’d almost rather see another Ben Roethlisberger article on the front page of ESPN than a feature on women’s college basketball.
Then Xavier-Stanford happens, in what might be one of the most ridiculous, jaw-dropping finishes in college basketball history, both men and women. Watch the insanity that ensues below.
I can’t decide if this is a reason to watch women’s basketball or a reason not to. How does the same Xavier player miss TWO wide-open layups, do they give scholarships in women’s college basketball?
And then to let the Stanford player drive down the entire court for a nearly uncontested layup in just four seconds, this is on the same level of the Ohio St./Michigan game in the men’s Big Ten tourney in terms of a terrible defensive strategy.
Not sure if the women’s Final Four will be as entertaining as this elite eight game, but TV ratings will certainly be higher because of it.
