Jon Bon Jovi in Talks to Buy Part of Atlanta Falcons

New England head coach and NFL coach of the year Bill Belichick may be good friends with New Jersey native Jon Bon Jovi, but the rocker is reportedly discussing buying a part of the NFC’s Atlanta Falcons.

According to ESPN, Bon Jovi is in talks to purchase a 15% share of the team, which amounts to a $150 million investment. Falcons owner Arthur Blank acknowledged the relationship.

The Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League were under the ownership of Bon Jovi from 2004-2009, so perhaps the singer is more than capable of owning a significant share of the team.

Maria Menounos Confronts Clay Matthews

‘Access Hollywood’ host Maria Menounos showed up on the sports scene for the first time in 2011 at the Super Bowl, on behalf of SportsIllustrated.com.

The reporter played in two notable celebrity sports events this past year, in both the Madden challenge and celebrity softball game during the MLB all-star break.

On media day in Dallas she confronted Packers linebacker with the pressing question that has been dominating Super Bowl week: Who has the better hair, Troy Polamalu or Matthews?

Matthews was respectful of Polamalu’s insured curls, but made it clear that he had the hair to beat. Video after the jump. View full article »

Sam Bradford Turns to AXE For New Hairstyle

For all the awards and high praise Heisman winner and number one overall draft pick Sam Bradford has attained during his time in the national spotlight, there is one part of the superstar persona he has yet to master.

His hair, as quoted by Bradford, is “totally out of control. It’s long, it’s nuts.” So what is a man with so many options to do? The promising Rams quarterback has taken on the role of hair product company AXE’s spokesperson.

Bradford looked to AXE with confidence his offensive line only wished he showed in them. “Thankfully, they’ve taken me under their wing, they’re going to give me a new look — something that looks a little more in control and looks good.”

B.o.B Previews Packers-Falcons Through Song

Rapper B.o.B burst onto the hip-hop scene in 2010 with the release of his debut album, and being an Atlanta native he’s a big fan of the dirty birds.

As part of the Pepsi/NFL partnership, he recorded a Packers-Falcons rap preview over the beat of fellow Atlanta rapper Big Boi’s song ‘General Patton’.

Gotta love his breakdown of the Roddy White-Charles Woodson matchup that everyone’s looking forward to. Video after the jump.

The Sporting Rave’s Interview with Steve Mariucci

I caught up with the victorious Red team’s head coach, Steve Mariucci, at the Under Armour All-American game.

Long story short, my phone died, so the 2 or 3 extra questions I asked him didn’t get recorded. Still got a good response on my first question though, which you can watch below.

Donovan McNabb and Terrell Owens to Reunite on Spike TV

Former Eagles teammates Donovan McNabb and Terrell Owens will participate on the Spike TV show “Pros vs. Joes” and team up with San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates on the basketball court against retired NBA players Hakeem Olajuwon, Kenny Smith, and Rick Fox.

The Eagles made the Super Bowl in 2004 with McNabb and Owens, but Owens was cut midway through the 2005 season during a big debacle between the two.

Gates, Owens, and McNabb all played college basketball, with Gates gaining the most success of the trio. He averaged 20.6 points per game, 7.7 rebounds per game, and 4.4 assists per game his last year of college.

Olajuwon is widely considered as one of the best NBA centers of all-time, while Kenny Smith is a former first round draft pick and is now an analyst on TNT. Rick Fox has shifted his career to Hollywood as an actor after winning three NBA championsips with the Lakers.

The episode of “Pros vs. Joes” will air July 6, 2010 on Spike TV.
