Can’t make this stuff up. Brad Richards, fresh off his signing with the New York Rangers, logged into twitter in a New York hotel. The key part of this story is the fact that he never logged out.
So, eventually, someone was going to come across Brad Richards’ twitter account, free to tweet whatever they wanted from his account that currently boasts over 35,000 followers.
Lo and behold, the man to stumble upon Richards’ account was Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee. So what Lee would call a hack was actually a random finding, but nonetheless the result turned out beneficial for Richards.
Lee sent out two tweets, as you can see below. He declared within the second message that it was him, but you know how these things go. He later sent a tweet from his ACTUAL account (talking about Tommy Lee here) telling Richards that it was actually him, and that his account was now safe, sound and logged out.
So moral of the story: Only leave your twitter account logged in at a public venue if there is a solid chance a celebrity could be the next in line.
